An ancient sea creature died an was buried and over time the shell was replaced by aragonite, the same material that gives a pearl it color and iridescence. This material comes from the bearclaw formation in Canada just north of Montana. This ammonite display gorgeous colors and is bezeled in sterling silver. The ammolite measures almost 1 1/2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide.
